As-Sakhāwiyyah

Poem of Tajweed by the student of Imam Ash-Shãtibi

Imam As-Sakhãwi was a student of Imam Ash-Shãtibi, who wrote his famous poem on the 7 Qirã’ãt, Hirz Al-Amãnĩ Wa Wajhi Al-Tahãnĩ, commonly known as Ash-Shãtibiyyah. As-Sakhãwi wrote a Sharh of this, but also wrote a short form poem of Tajwĩd, commonly known as the Sakhāwiyyah.

This is a short course format, where we go through the translation, the Qur’ãn references made and what parts of Tajweed the author is highlighting. The end goal of this course is to add to our foundations and not to build our foundations so this is not designed with the beginner in mind.

Please contact us upon completion of the course to get an electronic copy of Qari Armaan’s Matn & Translation of As-Sakhāwiyyah FREE!

I had the opportunity to study the Sakhāwiyyah with Qari Armaan after completing a number of poems, receiving Ijāzāt, and teaching my own students.

It’s important to mention the nuance that Imam al-Sakhāwi incorporates is rarely found elsewhere. He highlights subtleties in areas of recitation that one only notices after years of focused recital. Couple that with Qari Armaan’s teaching and this easily becomes a course that any serious student of Qirā’ah should take, improving their understanding of recitation to the next level.

The Sakhāwiyyah course is a great way to deepen and solidify foundational rules of Tajweed. As it is a relatively lesser known poem, it also provides an opportunity to learn about and appreciate the rich intellectual contributions of scholars in the field of Tajweed.

Qari Armaan guides students through each line of the poem, highlighting the verses of Qur’ān referenced throughout it. I thoroughly enjoyed the class.
